Philadelphia, PA – December 05, 2018 – John Milligan, CEO and managing principal at Milligan & Company, was honored as a 2018 Veteran of Influence by The Philadelphia Business Journal at an awards breakfast in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Business Journal selected 25 award recipients based on a number of different factors including military career, business accomplishments and community involvement. This is the fourth consecutive year that the PBJ has honored Veterans of Influence.

“I am incredibly honored to be named a Veteran of Influence by The Philadelphia Business Journal,” said Milligan. “The Navy gave me opportunities and experiences I could never earn anywhere else. It helped mold me into the person I am today, and I would highly recommend my path to other men and women who may not be sure what direction to take.”

Milligan served in the U.S. Navy as petty officer third class, where his duties included supporting the Navy Aviation units before they left for Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, Milligan attended Temple University and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting. From there, he went on to work with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) before establishing his own accounting firm, Milligan & Company, in 1985. The PBJ’s list includes veterans who now work in education, health care, finance, government, technology and more. Others on the list, like Milligan, are small business owners.
